Stellenbosch is South Africa’s second-oldest settlement and was founded in 1679 by Simon van der Stel, who was then the governor of the Cape. The town has become synonymous with winemaking and, today, still produces some of the best quality reds and whites in the country, if not the world. It’s also the home of Barnardt Boyes. Our local head office sits on the charming Dorp (“Town”) Street, which was once the wagon road to Cape Town. At the same time a postcard from history and a trendy strip buzzing with café-goers and art revellers, this avenue in the heart of Stellenbosch embodies the spirit of the town.
